Oktan Nalbantoğlu

Assistant Professor of Practice

Born in Erciş in 1963. He graduated from Ankara University's Department of Landscape Architecture, and received his masters and PhD degrees from the same university. Since his graduation, he worked in miscellaneous government offices, private firms, design and architecture offices and international firms, and many of his designs were realized. Apart from the many design competitions for which he has served as a jury member, he has several awards from national and international design competitions.

Published by YEM Yayın, ONA brings together the landscape and urban design work of Dr. Oktan Nalbantoğlu's practice, ontasarım. Released in the centennial year of the Turkish Republic, it is conceived as a tribute to Atatürk. The book presents sixty-five previously unpublished projects through texts, drawings, and colour photographs, grouped under themes that run from culture and memory to nature and conservation, square and street, coast and harbour, park and garden, education and health, and housing and commerce. Among them are recent and widely debated sites such as Istanbul's Historic Peninsula and Land Walls, Galataport, post-earthquake Hatay, Haydarpaşa Station, the Atatürk Forest Farm, and Gallipoli. Edited by Ayşegül Tokol and published in both Turkish and English.
