Banu Aksel Gürün

Banu Aksel Gürün (1974, Ankara) completed her secondary education at TED Ankara College in 1992 and received her bachelor's degree in City and Regional Planning from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1997. She graduated from METU's Urban Design Master's program in 2000 with the designation of Urban Design Specialist and began her doctoral studies in the same department, which she completed in 2009. During her doctoral studies, she spent one year at the University of Kent, England, as a visiting trainee. Between 1998 and 2005, she worked as a research assistant at METU, after which she co-founded BC Tasarım Co. Since 2024, she has been continuing her professional practice independently through ESKİZLER Co., which she established. Over the past two decades, she has contributed to numerous urban design and architectural projects, design briefs, guidelines, and strategic spatial plans as an urban planner and design expert. She also lectures part-time at METU and Bilkent University.
