Ece Beyza Özdemir and Team Win First Prize at İzmir's "Design Your Neighborhood"

Bilkent LAUD student Ece Beyza Özdemir, with teammates Aslı Taşkın and Bahar Taşkın, won first prize in the "Design Your Neighborhood" program of the Güzel İzmir Hareketi with Sahil Koridoru, a proposal that reimagines the Bayraklı waterfront.

Bilkent LAUD student Ece Beyza Özdemir, together with her teammates Aslı Taşkın and Bahar Taşkın, was awarded first prize in the "Design Your Neighborhood" program of the Güzel İzmir Hareketi, held under the motto "Let's Beautify İzmir Together." Out of 55 submissions, the project first reached the top twenty, advanced to the top five through public voting, and was finally named first by the jury.
The project
Sahil Koridoru reworks a stretch of the Bayraklı waterfront into an active public space that brings together sport, micro-mobility and healthy living. Growing out of a careful reading of the shoreline, it turns the promenade into a sequence of varied, lively surfaces for recreation and social life.
The jury praised the proposal for being practical, affordable and durable: a high-quality public space that stays usable even under everyday wear, with particular attention to the ergonomics and safety of its recreational spaces.
