Most of our education prepares us to work with linguistic (verbal) and numerical information and their processing. This introductory course aims to train the student to make sense of visual and graphic material and to understand urban space and physical environment through its physical components and forms.
objectives
The aim of this course is to provide a foundation for the concepts and issues related to the urban physical environment, architecture and urban design.
methods
The course is based on lectures. Lectures are supported with slide shows (usually prepared by instructor related to the subject) and transparencies.
assessment
Weekly homework on visual and verbal exercises (in class or outside), fieldwork (proposals for the project site), midterm (written and production of drawing material), presentations (on different design approaches), final examination, attendance and participation.
